Power Rankings

Preseason Power rankings:

Methodology: Rank teams in each category based on Yahoo's 2017 expected stat lines, average each teams rankings, and rank the teams based on this rankings average.  The Preseason Power Rankings are as follows:

10.  Tim Tebow Time: Manager: Thomas, P Ranking Score:7.1, Newbie

The initial Power Rankings were not kind to one of Re2pect's newest managers, Thomas.  Built around two perennial all stars Tim Tebow Time could be led to greatness by it's leaders: Rizzo and Donaldson. Will Tim Tebow Time's projected finish near the top in both homers and RBIsl help  him overcome his anticipated last place finishes in Steals, OBP, ERA and WHIP?  We'll have to see if Thomas can work the wire to a championship.

       Key Players:
Studs: Donaldson, Rizzo, Sale

Make or break the team: Sanchez, Bird, Story, Strasburg, Segura

9. Team Wheels: Manager: Kyky, P Ranking Score: 6.3, History: 2015-2nd 2016-8th

Coming in at the 9 hole is Team Wheels.  While Team Wheels has question marks all up and down it's pitching staff, the lineup should be deadly featuring: Machado, Villar, Correa, Schwarber, Abreu, Marte, and the DL stash Martinez.  Despite being anticipated to finish in first of steals, QS (suck it Ant), and ks, Team Wheels will struggle to close the deficit created by his poor ERA, Whip, and lack of Homers and RBIs.  "Oh i believe in miracles, since you came along, you sexy thang, sexy thang you"

       Key Players:
Studs: Machado, Correa, Marte

Make or break the team: Schwarber, Villar, Keuchel, Martinez

8. Obi Wan Canobi: Manager: Ant, P Ranking Score: 6.0, History: 2015-4th 2016-7th

Coming in hot at number 8 is Obi Wan Canobi.  This team is a lock to exceed expectations this year built around the consistency of Goldy, Cano, Blackmon, and Seager.  Ant drafted a respectable squad that, while a master of no stat, should rank highly the majority of categories.  Obi Wan Canobi ranks 2nd-6th in every category other than saves and runs (where he is projected to finish dead last).  What it lacks in flash Tony's team more than makes up for in consistency.

         Key players:
Studs: Goldy, Blackmon, Cano, Cueto

Make or break the team: Price, Harvey, King Felix

7. Mike Hurley's Team: Manager: Mike, P Ranking Score: 5.9, History: 2016-2nd

Lucky number seven goes to none other than Mike Hurley's Team.  Heading into his 3rd season, Kris Bryant could be poised to take even another step forward statistically and lead Mike's ball club towards glory.  Upton, Cespedes, and Cruz will look to help Mr. Bryant on his road to glory.  Mike Hurley's team should excel Saves, Homers, and RBIs.  However he should look into a way to strengthen his OBP, Ks, and QSs where hes predicted to struggle

         Key Players:
Studs:  Bryant, Kluber, Britton, Cruz

Make Or break the team: D-Rob, Cruz, Russle, Broxton

6. Joe's Fine Team: Manager: Joe, P Ranking Score: 5.8, History: 2015-8th 2016-3rd

The last of projected bottom half, Joe's Fine Team looks to continue to build on the success they had last year finishing in 3rd place.  Joe "The Great Talent Elevator" Farrell (self proclaimed?) should be happy if Harper puts up a slash line similar to his 2016 numbers, but with his insane potential showcased in 2015, it will be tough to temper incredibly high expectations.  Joe's Fine Team is expected to excel in QSs, Ks, SBs, and OBP, while falling behind in Homers and WHIP.

           Key Players:
Studs: Harper, Archer, deGrom,

Make or break the season: Tuner, McCutchen, Kimbrel

5. Da Cubs Da Cubs: Manager: CJ, P Ranking Score: 5.7, History: 2015-8th

And finally, we have the middle of the pack: Da Cubs Da Cubs.  Taking the high risk, high reward method, CJ followed his first round pick, Mookie Betts, with Giancarlo "Long Dong" Stanton. Despite taking him nearly a round before his ADP, Stanton was deemed worthy of a first round pick in both 2015 and 2016.  This controversial pick could go down as either the steal or the bust of our 2017 draft.  Da Cubs Da Cubs are built for RBIs and WHIP.  the same can not be said for Ks, Saves, OBP.

         Key Players:
Studs: Betts, Scherzer, Chapman, Stanton

Make or Break the team: Stanton, Greinke, Moncada

4. Mike's Team: Manager: BIL, P Ranking Score: 5.6, History: 2016-5th

The first squad ranked in the top half of of the league is Mike's Team.  BIL came into the draft with a similar mentality to the one he had in 2016: draft young players with stud potential. After his first two safe picks, Altuve and Syndergaard, BIL filled out a strong lineup with potential young game changers: Franco, Bogaerts. Yelich, Benintendi, Bell, Margot, Tailon, Gray. This extreme youth movement could either end beautifully or disastrously.  BIL's team should excel in QSs, OBP and Runs, while lagging behind in WHIP and Homers.

         Key Players:
Studs: Altuve, Yelich, Syndergaard, Bogaerts

Make or Break the team: Franco, Benintendi, Bell, Margot, Tailon, Gray

3. I am McLovin.: Manager: Grey, P Ranking Score: 4.9, History: Newbie

Projected to take home this years' bronze is I am McLovin.  This team was built with impressive overall balance. Of its 7 top players 3 are hitters: Arenado, Lindor, and Murphy; 3 starters: Bumgarner, Arrieta, and Hill; and the top closer in the game: Jansen.  These ballplayers will be looking to cheers with Bumgarner to their first championship run.  Grey's team is built to lead the pack in ERA and WHIP and should be a middle of the road team in all other categories.

          Key Players:
Studs: Arenado, Lindor, Bumgarner, Arrieta

Make or break the team: Hill, Fulmer, Gordon

2. Ethnic Kiss Manager: Collin, P Ranking Score: 4.5, History: Newbie

This was one hell of a draft for a newbie.  In Collin's first fantasy baseball season ever, he is projected to take 2nd place.  Despite it's suspect starting pitching, Ethnic Kiss' offense should be one for the ages.  Starring Trout, Votto, Seager, and Pollock this squad also features players with upside such as Myers and Sano. Ethnic Kiss is also doing his best Fink impression owning 5 closers to begin this young season. Fink 3.0 aka  Ethnic Kiss is poised to dominate Runs, OBP, Saves, and ERA.  This squad should come in last in Ks and QSs by a mile.

         Key Players:
Studs: Trout, Votto, Seager, Pollock, Darvish, Herrera

Make or break the team: Sano, Myers

1. Dick Swisher: Manager: Jake, P Ranking Score: 4.3, History: 2015-1st 2016-9th

And finally we have this first place asshole.  Projected to regain his title as champion for the 2nd time in league history, will Jake be able to lead Dick Swisher to the promise land?  Dick swisher is boasting by far the most dangerous staff in the league led by none other than Clayton "KKKKKKKK" Kershaw.  Accompanying the best pitcher of our generation is Cole, McCullers, Martinez, and Giles.  Despite its low floor, Dick Swisher's hitter does have potential to blossom into powerhouse with Miggy, Bregman, Polonco, and DL stashes Desmond and Dahl.  Dick Swisher should place above average in everything other than OBP and WHIP.

         Key Players:
Studs: Kershaw, Miggy, Springer, Polanco,

Make or break the team: Nola, Walker, Buxton, Swanson, Bregman
