Well boys, our first week of this year's glorious fantasy baseball season has come to a close. Congratulations to Team Wheels, The Johnny Rockers, Tim Tebow Time, Ethnic Kiss, and I am McLovin on getting your first wins and to the rest of you... try to suck less next time. Let's see how the action played out in this weeks review.
Ethnic Kiss V. Joe's Fine Team
Ethnic Kiss was able to sneak by Joe's Fine team with 6-4. Joe's Fine Team did most of it's damage in the pitching categories and was able to win QSs, Ks, and Svs this week. Joe's squad was also able to dominate the SB category doubling Ethnic Kiss' total 5-2. The rest of the offensive categories however, were taken by Colin's team. Combining an offensive onslaught n Rs, HRs, RBI and OBP with a stellar ERA and WHIP, Ethnic Kiss was able to establish itself as a powerhouse that will be a force to reckon with this season.
MVP: Miguel Sano- 7/20, 7 R, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 0 SB .458 OBP
LVP: Trea Turner- 3/19, 0 R, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 3 SB, .158 OBP, and a hamstring injury
The Johnny Rockers V. Dick Swisher
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Proclaimed the best team in the preseason power rankings, Dick Swisher fell to The Johnny Rockers in the closest match up of the week, 4-5. While Dick Swisher was annihilated in nearly all offensive categories (other than HR), it was able to leave its mark on the pitching categories winning SVs, Ks, and WHIP. Despite both teams putting up similar numbers in the batting categories, Cj's team was squeaked by with close wins in Rs, RBI, SBs, and OBP.
MVP: Salvador Perez- 7/24, 5 R, 4 HR, 4 RBI, 0 SB, .320 OBP- How the eff were all 4 solo shots
LVP: Miguel Cabrera- 2/17, 0 R, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 SB, .286 OBP
Tim Tebow Time V. Mike's Team
In our widest margin of victory this week Tim Tebow Time shellacked Mike's team 7-2. While Mike's Team was able to put up respectable numbers in every category, it was no match for the quality numbers Tim Tebow Time put up across the board. Only letting SBs and Ks escape his grasp, Tim Tebow Time was able easily win Rs, HRs, RBI, OBP, SVs, ERA and WHIP. This performance is sure to push Tim Tebow Time to the top of our power rankings.
MVP: Josh Donaldson- 8/23, 5 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 0 SB, .444OBP
LVP: Jonathan Lucroy- 1/15, 1 R, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 SB, .133 OBP
Team Wheels V. Mike Hurley’s Team
Teeeaamm Wheels *clap clap clapclapclap* Teeeaamm Wheels *clap clap clapclapclap*. Who isn’t on Team Wheels? Am I right? After defeating Mike Hurley’s Team 6-3-1, Team Wheels finds itself sitting in the 3rd spot in the league. With this early season loss, Mike Hurley’s Team falls to 9th right around the same place they are ranked for best team name. Both teams posted an ERA greater than 4.50. Shockingly Team Wheels won 4 out of the 5 pitching categories. Call the NCAA because Roy Williams and Team Tar Wheels might be getting another ring in 2017.
MVP: Adam Eat’em – 6 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 SB, .444 OBP
LVP: Francisco LiriaOHNO – 1 K, 135.0 ERA (You read that right), 21.00 WHIP (You also read that right) He surrendered 5 runs in 1/3 of an innings.
I am McLovin V. Obi Wan Canobi
Things that are terrible: Shoelaces coming undone in a public restroom, when you shave and realized you missed a spot hours later, people at work saying how sick they are and ties. Now tie ball games going into the 12th inning I am all for but a tie to end a game is down right un American. An interesting not in this matchup is Obi Wan Canobi’s strategy of streaming pitchers. This paid off in Ks (87 to the league average of 58) and QS (8 to the league average of 5). It’s well in the rules but it’s a lot like shifting in baseball, it works but nobody really likes doing it/wants to go against it. Obi Wan Canobi used 17 pitchers. I am McLovin used 9.
MVP: Aledmys Díaz – 5 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 SB, .296 OBP
LVP: DJ LeMahieo – 1 R, 0 everything else, .143 OBP
