10. Mike's Team-Manager: BIL, Previous Ranking: 4th
This was a tough week for Mike's team, losing to his cousin Tommy 7-3. His hitters got off to an extremely slow start with only Andrew Benintendi and Matt "3,000" Holliday. Jose Altuve and Xander Bogaerts go off to particularly bad starts combining for 0 Rs, 0 HRs, 0 RBI, and 3SBs in 39 at bats. On a brighter note Mike's Team's pitching looked good overall. Expect a bounce back this week; no way two of his best hitters continue to struggle like this.
9. Addison's Creed-Manager: Mike, Previous Ranking: 7th
Falling 2 spots in this weeks power rankings, Addison's Creed now stands as the 9th best squad. While its hitting stats were respectable, taking 3 of the 5 categories this week, its pitching was god awful (even worse than what Ant and Jake deem the worst staff in the league on Team Wheels). Addison's Creed was given good to mediocre by the majority of his pitchers, but was let down by stud Corey Kluber and the steady yet unspectacular Ian Kennedy. In three starts, the two pitchers were only able to get 1 QS and had above a 5.00 ERA.
8. Dick Swisher-Manager: Jake, Previous Ranking: 1st
"Oh I'm freeeeee. Free Fallin'" From first to fucked? We can only hope. But we need to keep it in our pants it is only the second week of a long season after all. Losing to a team with 1 closer (who had 0 save opportunities), Dick Swisher hit a new low this week. Monster outputs from George Springer, Rougned Odor were not enough to dig this squad out of the hole it was left in by the rest of its hitters. Russel Martin, Alex Bregman, Miguel Cabrera, and Byron Buxton combined for a pathetic: 3 Rs, 0 HRs, 0 RBI, and 1 SB in 65 ABs.
7. Joe's Fine Team-Manager: Joe, Previous Ranking: 6th
Falling just a single place, Joe's Fine Team maintained its status quo thus far into the young season. His Fine squad turned in Fine pitching statistics from the top of the staff to the bottom. If this week was any indication this may be one of the top few staffs in the league led by deGrom and a plethora of great relievers. What wasn't so Fine was Joe's Fine Team's hitting performance. While JT Realmuto, Bryce Harper and Edwin Encarnacion look to be poised for big seasons, Trea Turner and Andrew McCutchen have to be major concerns for Joe. Turner's hamstring has the potential to be a real problem for the speedster and seeing McCutch go 3/20 with 0 Rs, 0 HRs, 1 RBI, and 0 SBs in the first week after the worst year of his career can't feel good.
6. Obi Wan Canobi-Manager: Anthony, Previous Ranking: 8th
In our first positive rankings jump, Obi Wan Canobi moved from 8th to 6th with his performance last week. No one likes to tie, but as the 8th place team taking on the 3rd ranked, I Am Mclovin, Ant should be happy with this result. Led by the powerful trio of Paul Goldschmidt, Aledmys Diaz and Evan Longoria who accumulated 18 Rs, 6 HRs, 14 RBI and 4 SBs in 79 ABs. In spite of these incredible numbers Ant's pitching was disastrous. In a move of desperation Obi Wan Canobi used 15 starters (only garnering 8 QSs),signing and releasing 12 different men . Apparently Obi Wan Canobi is like the town bike, everyone gets a ride.
5. I am McLovin-Manager: Grey, Previous Ranking: 3rd
“Hawaii. All right, that's good. That's hard to trace, I guess. Wait... you changed your name to... McLovin?”
This team was the other half of the disappointing tie…. hate to see that. I don’t even want to write about any team associated with the tie but I guess I have to. Daniel Murphy has picked up right were he left off and currently has an OBP of .500. I am McLovin also got great production from Nomar Mazara who was snagged in the later rounds of the draft.
“It was between that or Muhammed”
Overall team I am McLovin looks to be a strong contender going forward but I don’t know if 14 HRs a week is sustainable.
“Why the FUCK would it be between THAT or Muhammed? Why don't you just pick a common name like a normal person?"
Ethnic Kiss had an outstanding draft for a noob. He was able to snag Votto in the second and the better Seager in the 3rd round after everyone else got a little scared due to a spring training injury he suffered (cowards!). Votto was not his usually self posting a .261 OBP but I think everyone knows that will change. It’s worth noting that Ethnic Kiss might have himself an under the radar ace in Julio Teheran who pitched 2 gems for the Atlanta 2015 Padres.
3. Team Wheels-Manager: Kyle, Previous Ranking: 9th
Making the biggest jump in the rankings this week is Team Wheels. Everyone can agree we all support Team wheels but is this team for real. I say no. This team was only able to collect 5 SBs in the first week after putting a premium on SB guys in the draft. “I’m chasing stolen bases because it’s easy and I’m not confident in my ability to be a fantasy baseball manager”. That is a direct quote from Team Wheels. Team wheels had a great week from Starling Marte who had a total of 5 RBI while posting a .417 OBP. Time will tell if this team is 2 legit 2 quit.
2. The Johnny Rockers-Manager: CJ, Previous Ranking: 5th
After being down 10-0 for the first three days of the week The Johnny Rockers had an epic momentum swing to win their match up 6-3-1. Justin Turner played great and Jon Lester provided a stable pitching performance. One thing to note is that the Johnny Rockers did not get a single SV this week. All I’m going to say is the Brooklyn Nets won 4 of their first 5 games this season.
1. Tim Tebow Time-Manager: Tommy, Previous Ranking: 10th
Worst to first baby! Who doesn’t like that?! Tim Tebow Time had an all-around great performance. Khris Davis (was going to mention Chris Davis from BAL somewhere here but that’s such a worn out joke) had a solid week. He hit 3 dongers and had an OBP of .414. Unfortunately, Tim Tebow Time got struck with the injury bug. Gary Sanchize will be out a couple of weeks with a Grade 1 strain of a muscle behind his right biceps (idk which is worse grade 1 or grade 2). Segura and Donaldson also got hurt but both are expected to play this week.
